Basic Purpose:
Responsible for carpet cleaning, hard floor care, policing perimeter of grounds, removal of trash and other duties throughout the community in accordance with established guidelines as required in community policy and procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attends to resident requests for carpet and/or floor cleaning.
- Monitors corridors, common areas and offices for carpet care or floor maintenance needs.
- Polices perimeter of building for debris and removal and disposal of any trash.
- Empties and clean trash receptacles.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and/or polishes floors using powered scrubber and waxing machines.
- Enforces safety when doing any carpet or hard floor care by placing “WET FLOOR” signs in location of work in progress, using a blower to hasten drying time, and monitoring the area until it is completely dry and safe for others to walk without harm.
- Responds promptly and courteously to resident requests.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Director and/or Executive Director.
- Follows guidelines for care and maintenance of equipment.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment to maintenance and Housekeeping Director.
- Performs all office duties in the absence of the Housekeeping Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrates awareness of safety principles.
- Interacts with guest, residents, family members and staff in a courteous, friendly and respectful manner.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Must keep resident information confidential and must treat all residents, family members, guests and other staff with dignity and respect at all times.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting (up to 60 lbs.), balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Must be able to operate and instruct in operation of housekeeping equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to heat above 100 degrees Fahrenheit for sustained periods, vibration, skin irritants, lung irritants and chemicals.
